Our commitment to student safety

Senda is designed to help students explore education and career possibilities in a safe, respectful and age-appropriate environment.

Our commitments to student safety and privacy

  • Protecting student privacy. We collect and use personal information only for clearly explained purposes and seek to minimize the information we collect.
  • Keeping students in control. Students should have meaningful control over what information they choose to share and, where applicable, who can see it.
  • Being transparent. We will clearly explain how information is used, including when new features, partnerships, recommendations, advertising or other services are introduced.
  • Putting safety first. We will design features involving students with appropriate safeguards, particularly where they may involve interaction with other users, professionals, universities, employers or third parties.
  • Avoiding harmful or discriminatory recommendations. Senda's recommendations are intended to help students discover possibilities, not to define, restrict or determine their future.
  • Using responsible commercial practices. Where Senda introduces commercial relationships, advertising, partnerships or sponsored services, these will be clearly identified and designed with student privacy and safety in mind.
  • Giving students appropriate choices. When a feature involves sharing a student's information with another user or organization, we will provide appropriate transparency and controls consistent with applicable law.
  • Protecting information. We will use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect student information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
  • Continuously improving safety. As Senda evolves, we will review our privacy, safety and safeguarding practices and update them when necessary.
  • Keeping connections private by default. Senda has no public student directory. Students connect only by sharing their username or invite link, both students must agree, and a connection sees only the student's name until they choose, item by item, to show more.

A note about Senda's future

Senda will evolve over time. New features may allow students to connect with universities, employers, professionals or other students, discover opportunities, or receive sponsored or commercial content.

When these features are introduced, Senda will update its policies, provide appropriate information and controls, and implement safeguards appropriate to the feature and the age of the student.

Our goal is not to prevent students from accessing opportunities. It is to help them explore those opportunities while maintaining appropriate privacy, transparency and safety protections.

Only what helps

We ask for the least information that still makes the guidance useful: an age band rather than a birth date, a city and country rather than an address, and a profile that is entirely optional and entirely yours to edit. Nothing in your DNA profile is required, and anything in it can be removed in a couple of clicks.

Safe by design

  • Email verification: a new account is only activated by clicking a secure single-use link sent to the registered address.
  • Private by default: every account is private and separated at the database level, so no student can read another's data.
  • No messaging: Senda has no student-to-student or adult-to-student messaging, no comments and no public posts, so there is no contact surface to police.
  • Secure passwords: passwords are hashed, checked against known-breached password lists, and resettable only through a link sent to the registered email.
  • Real deletion: deleting your account removes your profile, saved items, results and login — it is not a hidden flag.

Honest content

The careers, salaries, exams and study routes on Senda come from public sources and are written to be realistic rather than flattering. We label what is indicative, we link to the official source wherever there is one, and we correct mistakes when they are reported. If something on Senda is wrong or out of date, please tell us.

Parents, guardians and schools

A parent, guardian or school can ask us what information we hold about a student, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for an account to be deleted. Write to senda.policy@gmail.com and we will respond within one month, and much sooner where we can.

We are happy to talk to schools that want to use Senda with a class, including about what students would be asked for before they sign up.

Reporting a concern

If you see something on Senda that worries you — wrong information, a link that leads somewhere inappropriate, or anything that feels unsafe — email senda.policy@gmail.com. We acknowledge reports within two working days and treat anything involving a young person's safety as urgent.

If a young person is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Holding ourselves to it

These commitments sit beside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and they are part of how the product is built, not a statement added at the end. If we ever need to change them, we will say what changed and why.
